Mr.
and Mrs. Albena don't know where all their children are living now. Some
are in Chile and some are in Argentina. They aren't
sure how old their children are either. If you ask,
"How old is your daughter Susanna?" they say, "We aren't sure,"
or even, "Which Susanna?" This is because
they have 53 children! When people hear about their
enormous family they say, "How is it possible?" The
answer is simple; every time Mrs. Albena gave birth, she always had twins or triplets. They
got married when Mrs. Albena was 12 years old and Mr.Albena was 30. Their
first 21 children were boys, but Mrs. Albena wanted a daughter very much - now
she has 18 daughters. They don't use birth control
because it is against their religion. They now live
with 18 of their children in a small wooden house in Chile. |
