John
Lennon was born in Liverpool, England, in 1940. When
he was in high school he formed his first pop group, called The Quarrymen, then
he studied art at college. In 1960, he went professional
as one of The Beatles and they played in Liverpool and in Hamburg, Germany. In
1962, they made their first record called "Love Me Do" and appeared
on television for the first time. By 1964, The Beatles
were extremely popular in Europe and North America and they put out their first
film entitled "A Hard Day's Night". In 1965,
they were honored by the Queen of England; in 1966, John met Yoko Ono, a Japanese
artist who was 7 years older than him, and married her three years later. In
1970, The Beatles separated and John and Yoko started living in New York. On
December 8th,1980, he was outside his home when somebody shouted, "Mr Lennon". He
turned round and was shot five times. He was taken
to the hospital, but it was too late to save him. |
